BC HS Football Power Rankings
BC High School Football Power Rankings – Nov. 20
Unofficial (not Howard Tsumura), and hoping for free food in the press box.
With most of our top five in a bye week, and no movement as a result, here are your weekly power rankings with a twist: McLeod Stadium’s finer points.
1. Weather – The weather is dominating tonight. Sheets of rained poured down as soon as the Windsor-Seaquam game ended. South Delta learned their lesson. Don’t screw with mother nature, she’s a giant killer. Triple-A teams take notice. She will not spare you either.
2. Field goal posts – Finally the south end zone’s field goal posts are in the correct place. Last week they were positioned at the front of the end zone, this week they have been moved to the back. Too bad, it would’ve been interesting to see someone get beat because of the shorter distance on field goals in the south end zone.
3. Terry Fox vs. New Westminster – First huge game of the Triple-A playoff season. Two tough defences and two great running games, strength against strength. Discipline will be the name of the game. It starts at 8 p.m. tonight. Skip the Canucks game. They only have 60 games left after this one.
4. Yard markers – Whoo! Every ten yards the lines have been repainted. A strip of white tape has been laid down on the sidelines, making it more visible than the Canadian rules’ sidelines, which was a problem last week. It’s nearly impossible to see the five, 15, 25, 35 and 45-yard lines from the stands but this is a vast improvement from the wildcard round.
5. Referees – Drenched, looking like a pack of drowned rats, they’re still out there calling the game, spotting the ball without hash marks and generally doing a good job… Holding? What the hell kind of call was that? You’re a bum… It’s a tough job and somebody has to do it.
Honourable Mention
The press box – It’s nice and dry up here… suckers.
Traffic – Trying to get downtown to BC Place on Friday night is ridiculous. Getting out to Langley is a bit of a trek for me, but at least it’s less stressful.
Parking – Sure, one parking lot requires you to walk around the entire stadium, another is half grass and another for the Langley Learning Centre. But it’s free!
