A positive test for Manny is worse for the Red Sox than the Dodgers

A week after his interview with Dave Roberts where they reminisced about the 2004 comeback against the Yankees, The Sports Guy had no choice but to write this article about the legacy of the Red Sox team that ended the 89 year drought.
The good feelings that Red Sox fans had about that team will now be accompanied by the asterisk put beside it because of Manny Ramirez testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.
You can say what you want about the Dodgers being hurt by the loss of Manny in their lineup, but this is far more damaging to the Red Sox because of the two World Series they won with him.
The only thing I could compare it to for myself would be if Todd Bertuzzi came back the year after being suspended for breaking Steve Moore’s neck and lead the Canucks to the Stanley Cup.
In Vancouver we would do just about anything to win a Cup. You saw how we reacted after sweeping St. Louis in round one. We acted like we have never won before because we NEVER have.
If we had won it and Bertuzzi gave a Conn Smythe worthy performance, it would have felt a little empty inside. Everyone would have spinned at as a good story, but how could it be justified if he was kissing the Cup while Moore can’t play for the rest of his life?
It would be hard for me to feel satisfied as a fan and a person if that happened.
It’s not the same situation for Red Sox fans, but that is the closest analogy that I could think of. The circumstances would have been different, but the end feeling would be the same. Something would be missing.
Bill Simmons and the rest of Red Sox nation has to feel that way today and for the rest of time until they win their next championship. Hopefully it comes sooner than later because one of the most tormented fanbases in sports deserves to truly enjoy a championship without any questions surrounding its legitimacy.

I disagree, and it’s not because I’m a Red Sox fan. If he had’ve tested positive when he was with the Boston Red Sox when they won their two championships, then I’d agree 100%, but he didn’t test positive as a member of the Sox, therefore there’s no conclusive evidence that he was on the juice in Boston and therefore you have nothing but speculation to go on. He tested positive as a Dodger. It hurts the Dodgers more because their biggest bat is out for 50 games and their run through the playoffs last year definitely has black eye over it because Manny was the best player on that team, at least offensively.
Could he have been on steroids in Boston? There’s a good chance, but there’s no proof of that yet so you can’t conclude that his testing positive in 2009 as a member of the Dodgers damages the Red Sox of 2004 and 2007.
