Anderson Silva-Forrest Griffin at UFC 101

Not many people would describe Dana White as polite.

But a brilliant promoter? You could hardly argue that is not accurate.

He’s proven it again with his latest super fight that he just organized. Get ready for an Anderson Silva-Forrest Griffin light heavyweight match-up at UFC 101.

After the horrendous display put on by Silva and Thales Leites in Montreal, something needed to be done to repair The Spyder’s reputation as a popular fighter and pound for pound king.

This fight could answer all of the questions asked about Silva and more.

Forrest is by far the toughest opponent Silva will have ever faced. He’s the biggest 205er in the division (he walks around at close to 240), has top notch cardio, and has the reach to outpoint Silva if the fight is kept at a distance.

But the chances of the fight being fought on the perimeter are slim and none with slim on the next train out of town. Forrest has never been known to fight passively and has shown no fear when fighting big names like Rampage, Shogun, and Tito. (Those three names together sound like a law firm straight out of Grand Theft Auto.)

This fight has all the makings. It is going to define both of the fighters one way or another.

Dana White might never be the guy who leads mixed martial arts to big time mainstream success. But if he keeps on making fights like this then he’ll feel the love from MMA fans for a long, long time.
