Kaka says no to becoming City slacker
Thank goodness for footballers like Kaka in the modern game. Where intelligence and passion overcomes greed and stupidity. The decision for Kaka to reject the seemingly infinitely rich Machester City to stay at his beloved Milan was a brave one.
Many footballers would still be in the air jumping for joy at the prospect of being offered a reported £500,000 a week, but Kaka took the necessary measured steps before finally deciding to stay at his beloved Milan.
Firstly, it is a testament to the calibre of Kaka’s abilities that he was offered such a deal. I can assure you that there are not many players that would have as an attractive contract offered to them as Kaka did.
So why did he reject? A deep affiliation for his current club is obvious but it was just pure logic that stopped him walking into a struggling Premier League side. Kaka knows his abilities must ensure him to play Champions League football and whilst he would have suffered from no competition with Europe’s elite this season it’s plain to everyone that Manchester City will not challenge to compete with Barcelona and Inter Milan for this season at least!
With a bottomless wallet that City have they will always have the potential to play in and win the Champions League, but to assume that cherrypicking superstars such as Kaka will have an immediate effect of boosting them up the table is deluded.
Kaka knows he has a better chance of achieving Champions League football if he stays where he is for now. However it wouldn’t be a surprise if he were to depart the Milan club if Champions League football is not attained, additionally Milan’s willing less to hear the offer from Manchester City albeit a monster sum of money involved may unsettle the player.
In an age where money usually rules over head and heart, the decision to stay put and not chase the riches at Manchester City was a refreshing one. Nonetheless City fans all is not lost, reportedly Craig Bellamy and Nigel De Jong are set to join the ranks as the club desperately try to salvage some disappointing league form.
City’s problems begin in defence with Micah Richards loss of form and the once solid Richard Dunne not at his brilliant best the need of a talismanic centre half is surely the first priority.
At the end of the season there is set to be sweeping changes at Eastlands, the club may have to install a revolving door to accommodate the number of arrivals and departures. Stability is the key, keep Dunne and Hughes and give the younger players a chance to rub shoulders with the likes of Elano and Robinho.

With the 2008 Summer Games over, relive the Beijing experience with
I saw plenty of scuttlebutt which suggested that it was never a real proposal to begin with, it was the unpopular ownership of Milan spreading the rumours so as to improve their own public image when they ‘knocked back’ any reported transfer no matter how much the transfer fee would have been. Certainly sounds like something an Italian club would do …. lol
