Big 12 Football three-way: The case for Texas
Texas fans should be harping on one thing, their loss.
The Longhorns lost to Texas Tech on a last second touchdown pass from Graham Harrell to Michael Crabtree that will be on highlight reels for the rest of the century.
It was a game for the ages, one you certainly can’t fault them for losing. Especially in a charged, hostile atmosphere on the road in Lubbock, Texas.
It was the biggest game in the history of the Red Raiders’ program. Of the three teams, the Longhorns’ loss is by far the best.
Not only that but their victory over Oklahoma was a 10-point win on a neutral field. Texas was the only team among the three without a home game in the head-to-head-to-head series. Also, their schedule leading up to the Texas Tech game, if you’ll remember, was a murderers row of ranked teams.
It started out innocent enough, vs. Rice, vs. Arkansas, at Colorado, a little adolescent grab-ass. Then it got real serious, vs. Oklahoma, vs. Missouri, vs. Oklahoma State, she was asking for the ring before she even put out. Then came the break-up, the Texas Tech road loss. It was over before it even started. It all happened so fast, there wasn’t even a bye-week.
I believe Texas has the best case of the three and that’s why they’re #2 in the BCS right now. All they have to do is get past a disappointing Texas A&M team on Thursday night and they should be the Big 12 south representative in the conference championship.
