Crushing the Leafs-mobile

Video: Crush the Leafs

As written on 24 hours Vancouver:

It was our present to Toronto.

To mark the 41st year since the Maple Leafs won a Stanley Cup, 24 hours delivered the gift of a Leaf-mobile to our Eastern friends.

We just modified it a bit to remind them that, well, the Leafs still suck.

Mandhir Dhillon of Surrey won the chance to high-stick those Maple Leafs Saturday at Amix Salvage & Sales Ltd. and push the car-crusher button. A bid of $212.50 on the 24 hours EBay auction won the Canucks and Senators fan the right to make sure the blue-and-white vehicle got mangled, disfigured and crushed, much like Toronto’s Cup dreams every season.

“It was fun and exciting,” Dhillon said. “I just hate them so much and they think that they are better than everybody. I think everyone just as a whole in all of Canada collectively think they suck.”

His friend, Ronil Singh, knew that he was destined to be the one pressing that button.

“I had no doubt that no matter what amount of money it would cost him to win this bid that he was going to win it,” Singh said. “He is by far the No. 1 Leafs hater in the world and this is just the way for him to do whatever it takes to prove it.”

Leave it to 24 hours’ Guts McTavish to take the final shot at those pesky Leafs.

“How many Leafs does it take to change a lightbulb?

“Six. One to change it and the other five to sit around and reminisce about how great the old bulb was.”
