Canucks In Game: After twenty minutes

Columbus BJ’s - 2 (7 shots), Canucks - 1 (5 shots)

The Canucks defence is doing their job, Luongo is not. Same goes for Columbus.

Those fights don’t mean very much now that the intermission probably crushed any momentum this spirit-free game had in store for us.

Seriously, you would think it was a UBC game in Ohio tonight with the fan fare there. Here comes the opening faceoff…

Update: Garrett makes a good point

…as Daniel fails on a two-on-one with his brother.

The Canucks don’t play again until their next home game on Saturday against Edmonton. If Luongo can shut the door and let the Canucks 8th ranked offence do their collective thang, it’ll be a huge confidence booster with four days of rest.

Columbus D looks like it’s starting to break down.

Update: Looking better, Mr. Captain

Luongo just stood his ground on a Columbus wrap-around type play. Nice positioning, but had that been Rick Nash, it could have been shelved on the Canucks’ captain.

But, he’s keeping them out and the rebound control is looking better.

On another note, as I have some time at the commercial break, the team chemistry is looking terrible right now on offense. Way too many passes going in dissaray.

Some of those have the right idea on them, but not tape to tape yet. Seven games in the season this needs to be picked up as soon as possible.

Update: Mitchell keeping Nash in check

Usually the constant on the Canucks, Willie Mitchell is the only player keeping Rick Nash from breaking out in this one, and Canucks fans better hope it stays that way.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Willie “Bill Pickle” Mitchell should be the captain of this team.

(There goes another pass astray from Ryan Johnson, leading to a Columbus scoring chance that missed the net.)
